Two girls were spotted in the crash. Mia Samolinski, 18 years old, is one of the rescued girls. Anthony Zhongor is 17, a student at the school where Samolinski was. Samolinski accidentally pressed the accelerator pedal as she stopped her car in Patchogue Bay. This caused the fatal car accident. Anthony, a teenager, saved Samolinski’s life when her car and vehicle crashed into the river.
Zhongor and Samolinski both went to the same high school, but they had never met. Both were able to return to the beach without any damage. Zhongor will be graduating from school next week and will begin basic training in the Army in September.

Samolinski used the stopper instead of the pedal to sink the Car into the sea. Zhongor plunged into the river and, when he returned to his car, he slammed the door shut. They both made a huge effort to unlock the gates. It was difficult for them to do so.

Samolinski was kind enough to praise Zhongor, and continued to weep as he recounted the amazing rescue. We discovered that Zhongor told the media that he could not watch someone die so he dived into the sea to save her. Charles Samolinski, Charles’s father, described the experience as a miracle.
